Leadership

Before the first job, there is the first responsibility. Volunteering is where many young leaders get it.

Idea in Brief

The Situation

Youth volunteering is gaining national support, from a new National Volunteer Corps to a partnership to train 20,000 youth volunteers.

Why It Matters

Employers, scholarship panels and international programmes look for evidence of initiative. Volunteering is one of the most accessible ways to build it.

The Way Forward

Choose credible organisations, start small, stay consistent and document what you achieve.

Ask selection panels what separates strong candidates and a pattern emerges: evidence that the applicant has already taken responsibility for something real. For many young Pakistanis, volunteering is where that evidence begins.

Volunteering Has Become a National Priority

On International Volunteer Day 2025, the PMYP chairman called volunteerism a national force for healing and unity and announced a National Volunteer Corps for February 2026. He pointed to Punjab’s volunteer-led dengue awareness campaign as an example of youth impact. In January 2026, the PMYP signed a letter of intent with VSO Pakistan and BARGAD to train and mobilise 20,000 youth volunteers, and the Volunteer Corps was funded in the 2026–27 development budget.

What Volunteering Builds

  • Transferable skills: planning, communication, teamwork and project management.
  • Networks: peers, mentors and organisations beyond the classroom.
  • Evidence: concrete examples for CVs, interviews and scholarship essays.
  • Purpose: a direct contribution to education, environment and community wellbeing.

Consistency matters more than hours. Reliability is the first leadership skill.

How to Choose the Right Organisation

Not every opportunity is genuine. If you are looking for the best youth organization in Pakistan for you, ask four questions:

  1. Does it have a clear mission and a public record of its work, ideally with independent coverage?
  2. Are its leaders named and its contact details transparent?
  3. Is the volunteer role clearly described, with support and supervision?
  4. Is it free? Be cautious of anyone charging for a volunteer role or certificate.

Youth Revolution Clan publishes its track record with sources so volunteers can judge for themselves.
