A delegation from Youth Revolution Clan (YRC) called on governments and international organisations to put young people at the heart of their sustainability plans during a youth summit in Geneva in December 2022.

The three-member delegation was led by YRC chairman Rizwan Anwar and co-chaired by Maha Jamil, Academia Magazine reported on 14 December 2022.

The magazine described the gathering as the United Nations Annual Youth Summit.

Change brings opportunity

In a speech on youth participation in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Mr Anwar said change brings opportunity and that the needs of young people are evolving.

Young people, he said, need resources, tools, relationships and solutions to pursue sustainable growth.

He urged governments, civil society organisations and international NGOs to build sustainability strategies centred on supporting youth.

Projects back home

The delegation also highlighted the projects YRC is carrying out to equip young people in Pakistan, according to the report.

Its members said young people are not only tomorrow’s leaders but also agents of change today, and called for youth to be engaged at grassroots level to build a sustainable future.

About YRC

Academia Magazine described YRC as a youth-led organisation working to improve the socio-economic conditions of young Pakistanis and to involve them in positive activities.

During the same period in Geneva, Mr Anwar and Ms Jamil also spoke at a Kinnaird College dialogue on women’s empowerment at the UN.
